How Pricing Works

Datarex does not publish rates because the number depends on scope. Each of the three services has a pricing structure you can see before any work begins, and you get a written proposal with the figure in it before anything starts.

Strategy + Advisory

Audits, reviews and the other assessment work are fixed in scope, each priced as its own proposal. The retainer is the exception: a standing monthly arrangement.

Fractional CTO RetainerA monthly retainer, with a minimum of one day a week. See what the fee covers.

Design + Build

Every build opens with a paid discovery. What follows is a fixed proposal produced from it, except Managed SaaS, which runs on a single monthly fee once the system is running.

Support

Software, platform and integration support run on a single monthly fee sized to the work. DevOps & Managed Hosting is a predictable monthly fee of its own.

What Moves the Number

  • Scope: how much has to be assessed, designed or built.
  • The number of integrations: every connected system adds design work, testing and something to keep working afterwards.
  • The condition of your existing data: clean, well-structured data moves fast, and years of manual workarounds do not.
  • Compliance obligations such as PHIPA: regulated data changes what has to be built, reviewed and documented.
  • Support hours: how many hours a month a retainer or support arrangement actually needs to cover the work.

What the Proposal Contains

Before any work starts, you get a written proposal covering the following. There is nothing to sign to have the conversation that produces it.

  • The scope of work, written down rather than implied.
  • The fee, as a fixed price or a monthly figure, before anything starts.
  • What is explicitly out of scope.
  • A timeline for the work described.
